Mufindi Orphanage
Previous project: Mufindi Orphans
‘Orphans in the Wild aims to help local communities ensure that children orphaned by AIDS in Mufindi are given sufficient immediate and long-term emotional and material support to feed, clothe and educate them to the end of their compulsory schooling, and to improve the general living standards in an environmentally sustainable manner’.
Play Our Part trustees chose to support this worthwhile project by offering to raise the funds to build one house at the orphanage for ten cheldren and a house mother. The project offered great value, was tangible and, as building was coordinated by a UK registered charity, offered financial accountability.
This project will be further supported by the building of a number of mini health clinics in the region through the Mufindi Rural Medical Project.
Orphans in the Wild is the UK-registered charity – set up to support Foxes Community and Wildlife Conservation a charity registered in Tanzania. Based in the Mufindi region, it is active throughout Southern Tanzania via the network of Foxes’ Safari Camps. It was set up in 2005 with the broad aim of helping the chronically poor rural societies of Southern Tanzania improve their standard of life while developing in harmony with their environment.
Achievments
POP members managed to raise U$10,000 (GBP £ 5,000) to build a house for 10 Orphans in Tanzania. The construction of this POP orphanage is now underway...
Please see link to photos below, taken by our trustee Andrew Davies. He recently went to Tanzania and saw the real difference POP has made to improve the quality of life for the orphans living in Mufindi. Thank you for all your support!!!
